Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (thawed)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (freshly cracked)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets onto a lightly floured surface and roll them out to smooth any creases.
  3. Brush the entire surface of each puff pastry sheet with melted butter.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over both buttered pastry sheets.
  5. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each sheet into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 to 5 inches long.
  6. For a fancier look, gently twist each strip a few times before placing it on your prepared baking sheet.
  7. Arrange the sticks on your baking sheets, leaving a little space between each one. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they're puffed, golden brown, and crispy on the edges.
  8. Let the crack sticks cool on the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.
