- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add diced onion to the beef and cook until softened. Stir in minced garlic.
- Mix in tomato paste, smoked paprika, and thyme. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped cabbage in batches, stirring until it begins to wilt.
- Stir in uncooked rice, drained diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10-15 minutes.
Notes
Avoid overcooking the cabbage initially. Use fresh cheese for better melting. Allow the dish to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
