Maggie’s Kitchen Comforts brings warmth and heart to every dish, sharing easy, comforting recipes for home cooks of all skill levels.
Let’s celebrate the joy of home cooking-one recipe at a time.

Welcome! I’m Maggie Foster, a proud mom of two spirited daughters, aged 17 and 20, living in Asheville, North Carolina, nestled in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

At 49, I’ve spent years feeding my family and friends, and my love for home cooking has grown stronger with every meal. I started Maggie’s Kitchen Comforts with my sister by my side-she’s the wordsmith who helps bring my kitchen tales to life online. Together, we’re passionate about sharing simple, flavorful recipes that anyone can cook and that bring comfort and connection to the table.

I’ve always believed that cooking is about more than just ingredients-it’s about making memories, experimenting with flavors, and embracing those “oops” moments that turn into cherished stories. My recipes have been shared across local community groups and have found their way into countless family gatherings, potlucks, and quiet Sunday suppers.

While I’m not a professional chef, I believe the best meals come from the heart. My kitchen is filled with hand-me-down tools, handwritten recipes, and the laughter of my daughters as we knead dough and sneak bites of cookie batter. I’m honored to share that Maggie’s Kitchen Comforts is ranked among the top local blogs for home cooking, where I get to connect with women like you-women who understand the beauty of a warm meal shared with family and friends.

My Blogging Journey

Before diving into blogging, I spent years working as an elementary school teacher. While teaching was rewarding, I felt pulled toward something that fed not just my family but also my soul. Chronic back pain eventually nudged me to find a new way to spend my days, and so I turned to the kitchen, where standing for a few hours with a pot of soup felt like therapy.

In 2015, with my girls growing more independent, I started experimenting more and sharing my creations online. My sister encouraged me to put my heart into it, and together we built Maggie’s Kitchen Comforts from scratch. We didn’t have a fancy camera at first-just an old smartphone, a love for cooking, and a desire to connect.

Food photography was a learning curve for me, but I fell in love with capturing the little details-a swirl of frosting on a cupcake, the steam rising from a freshly baked pie. I took countless courses and spent many late nights watching videos to figure it out. Today, I’m still learning and growing, and that’s what I love most about this journey.

My Food Philosophy

Like many women, I often found myself stuck in a dinner rut-cycling through the same five recipes over and over. One day, I decided it was time to break free and have some fun in the kitchen.

My philosophy is simple: cooking should be comforting, not complicated. I love classic, homey recipes that don’t require fancy ingredients or hours in the kitchen. At the same time, I’m always eager to try new flavors and find inspiration in old-fashioned recipes that remind me of my grandmother’s cooking.

I’m especially fond of dishes that bring people together-warm casseroles, hearty soups, and sweet treats that feel like a hug on a plate. And yes, I’m a bit obsessed with my slow cooker and air fryer-two of my kitchen’s best friends!
